Role Description

Mission

▪ Supervise the execution of mechanical works, both performed by subcontractors or in direct hiring, verifying that works are correctly carried out in accordance with project documentation and in the planned time frame.

▪ Support the mechanical subcontractors or the direct hiring personnel ensuring the feasibility (availability of drawings and materials) of the works.

Tasks

▪ Promote safe works practices and environmental protection, ensuring that safety standards are respected.

▪ Ensure the fulfilment of the project quality and contractual requirements

▪ Verify and confirm the availability of drawings and materials, to plan the efficient execution of the works performed by subcontractors or by assigned direct hiring personnel.

▪ Assist subcontractors or assigned direct hiring personnel for the correct interpretation of the drawings, providing support in the solution of technical problems.

▪ Supervise the execution of mechanical works, checking that machineries/tools are properly used and maintained.

▪ Supervise the execution of mechanical completion activities related to mechanical works, making sure that all punch list items in scope are closed.

▪ Prepare and coordinate the detailed programs for the assigned activities.

▪ Coordinate human and technical resources assigned, indicating any needs or surplus.

▪ Verify that works are correctly carried out in accordance with the project specifications, highlighting any engineering problems encountered in the field.

▪ Measure the progress of the works carried out.

▪ Provide quantitative data for producing weekly progress reports, monitoring the employed manpower.

▪ Ensure the continuous assessment of the quantities installed.

▪ Organize working area based on assigned activities to improve HSE and overall efficiency.

If the discipline Supervisor is also involved in the Punch list activities the following additional tasks need to be managed:

▪ Set-up the proper tools for the management of the punch lists, producing adequate reports to monitor the status of the punch list points (open, closed, closure forecast dates)

▪ Plan all the activities related to punch lists management.

▪ Perform the walkthroughs.

▪ Ensure that punch lists issued after walkthroughs are promptly notified and correctly drawn up and recorded.

▪ Ensure the correct classification of the punch lists and identify the owner for each point.

▪ Coordinate the assigned team, managing the interfaces with construction, engineering and commissioning team in order to close the punch lists. Negotiate with the Client the punch lists and their classifications, in accordance with contractual scope of work and project requirements.

▪ Ensure that the corrective actions identified for punch lists points closure are carried out and notified to the Client, in order to obtain the close-out form signed.

▪ Archive all the punch list reports, in order to keep correct traceability.

Professional Skill

Description

Construction standards and codes – Knowledge of all the main international construction standards, codes and regulations. – – Ability to interpret them and to supervise their application.
Direct Hiring construction activities – Knowledge of construction activities performed in direct hiring.
-Ability to manage activities performed in direct hiring.
– Ability to execute the staffing and the right sizing of the team, and to ensure consumables are provided as to grant continuity of activities and avoid any kind of downtime of the working crews.
 
Project technical documents – Ability to read and interpret technical project documents such as isometrics, standards for supports, P&IDs, piping arrangements, plot plants, alignment sheet, project installation procedures.
– Ability to identify possible issues in the documentation and to promptly take corrective actions.
Punch List Management – Ability to execute activities of the punch list record guaranteeing that project time, cost, quality objectives are met.
– Ability to apply clearance and tracking methods to deliver the plant to the end user (commissioning) with the consciousness to be part of a mechanism of handover.
– Ability to successfully drive the process in order to deliver the system to the end user within the schedule.
Work Progress Measurement – Knowledge of measurement methodologies and material quantities, in order to control the progress of the works.
– Knowledge of methodologies to evaluate the activities efficiency.
– Ability to apply work progress measurement techniques.
– Ability to promptly identify criticalities in the activities progress.
Construction activities execution – Understanding of how a project execution and construction plan in framed. Ability to interpret and understand construction plans.
– Ability to execute the construction plan.
Piping and steel structures prefabrication and installation – Knowledge of prefabrication, fabrication and installation methodologies for piping, piping underground, steel structures.
– Knowledge of heavy lifting methodologies.
– Knowledge of methodologies, procedures and equipment for wrapping, lowering and bending of pipes.
– Ability to supervise and to execute the activities of steel structures prefabrication, piping prefabrication, piping erection, piping underground, equipment erection and machinery installation.
Piping and structural steel materials – Knowledge of piping and steel structures materials (pipes, fitting, flanges, steel profiles, etc.) and consumables (welding roads, gas, etc.)
– Knowledge of the different materials to be welded piping and structural steel, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, inconel, galvanized, etc.
– Knowledge of welding and NDT techniques, procedures (e.g. WPS, PQR) and equipment.
Piping and structural steel materials – Knowledge of the welding processes required by projects for offshore/onshore/fabrication yard activities (GMAW, SAW, FCAW, PAW, SMAW, GTAW, Carbon Arc Air Gouging, etc.).
– Knowledge of various type of welding machines (e. automatic, mechanized, etc..) and capability to select the main welding consumables (wires, flux, electrodes, filling rods, shielding gas, etc..) and define their storage requirements.
– Knowledge of different international codes/standards to develop and review Preliminary Welding Procedure Specification (PWPS) and Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), including welding repair procedures.
– Capability to use the main test and measuring instruments to monitor the welding process parameters/performance. – – – Knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical testing to be performed during the Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) execution and review. Capability to analyse the specific Project requirements and identify implementation action on the PQRs, WPSs and Project documents for production coverage.
Knowledge of main NDT methods and equipment,
capability to notice indications and defects on the welded joints.
Welding engineering and techniques Definition, knowledge ,understanding and application of HSE procedures and Project requirements for all project phases. Capability either to apply and to control and ensure the correct application of the HSE procedures / requirements Capability to analyse HSE client requirements and plan the need actions Capability to develop HSE plans and perform relevant economic evaluation of HSE plans / HSE services HSE activities
Project HSE management – Knowledge of relevant construction discipline (e.g. hook-up, fabrication, installation etc.) (scope of work and execution). Ability to set, monitor and highlight performance deviations through KPIs. Ability to execute subcontractor technical assessment/scouting. Ability to follow-up on executed quantities and deviations from scope.
Subcontractor technical coordination – All of the above applicable to their area of remit.
Quality control activities – Knowledge of quality control principles and responsibilities of roles involved. Capability to apply Quality Control Plans.
