JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for supporting and coordinating various aspects of logistics operations within an organization. His primary responsibilities include overseeing small procurements, managing warehousing activities, and coordinating transportation logistics. He/she will work closely with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams in the main Tripoli office to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and materials. The Logistics Assistant maintains inventory levels, tracks shipments, and organizes storage systems to optimize warehouse operations. He/she will also assist in the planning and execution of transportation routes, ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing cost-effectiveness. Overall, the Logistics Assistant plays a vital role in streamlining logistics processes and ensuring smooth operations throughout the supply chain.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and manage small procurements, including sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and issuing purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels to ensure optimal supply availability.
- Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments, verifying contents against delivery documents.
- Prepare and package outgoing shipments, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Collaborate with vendors and carriers to schedule pickups, deliveries, and transportation logistics.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues or delays.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, implementing effective storage systems for efficient inventory management.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with electronic records and identify discrepancies.
- Assist in the implementation and utilization of warehouse management systems (WMS) for improved efficiency.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure proper allocation of resources for logistics operations.
- Generate reports and analyze data related to inventory levels, shipment activities, and warehouse performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement
solutions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the warehouse and during transportation activities.
- Assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements with suppliers and carriers to optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
- Responsible for all minor works in all new International Medical Corps Office, warehouse & Main buildings in Benghazi: Plumbing, electricity, minor repairs, small handy intervention…
- Inform the supervisor of any broken, damaged, or destroyed IMC facility equipment, OR IMC assets.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Preferably bachelor’s degree in a relevant field – logistics, supply chain, engineering, finance …etc.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a humanitarian environment.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to integrate and work well within a multi-ethnic and multicultural team
Computer Literacy
- Good use of MS pack
