The ICRC Delegation in Libya has a vacancy for:
Accountant
The position will be based in the Tripoli Sub Delegation
Under the supervision of the Accountant Manager, he/she is in charge of preparing, reconciling and analysing the accounting records and financial reports of the delegation, processes financial data on computer and provides end of month closing and reports mainly independently, takes part in cash flow management, participates to the budget preparation and ensures respect of financial procedures and guidelines
Main Responsibilities:
- Controls and processes financial data on the ICRC bookkeeping accounting software, such as preparation of vouchers, statistics, bank reconciliations, cash reconciliation, correction vouchers, monthly closing, in accordance with the ICRC financial regulations;
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of the accounting transactions;
- Performs regular integrity checks of accounting entries and account balances;
- Keeps files up to date at all times and guarantees proper filing of relevant supporting documents for future reference, including audits;
- Applies the ICRC chart of accounts when entering expenditures, incomes, transfers, balance sheet account;
- Helps ensure that operations run smoothly through efficient cash-flow management, covering the fund needs of the delegation;
- On daily basis, enters all cash transactions into the accounting software application, print and signs vouchers, daily control and cash statement;
- Manages the list of balance sheet account and prepare quarterly confirmation and communicate with Logistic department for VAT matters;
- Performs initial review of all entries, make quality checks, and do necessary corrections promptly;
- Prepares all the necessary accounting closing documents on monthly bases;
- Provides support to other departments and responds to semi-routine and non-standard inquiries when necessary;
Required background, skills and experience:
- Accounting diploma
- 3-5 years’ work experience in a similar field
- Experience of international organizations an asset
- Sound knowledge of accounting software
- Rigorous and trustful person
- Very good command of written and spoken Arabic and English
- Very good computer and analytical skills
- Capacity to apply ICRC rules and procedure
- Capacity of treating information confidentially
- Excellent organizational and methodical abilities, sense of initiative
- Service oriented with a strong sense for setting of priorities and flexibility
- Interest for humanitarian activities (especially ICRC’s)
