POSITION TITLE: Workshop Manager
REPORTS TO: Service Manager
POSITION CONCEPT:
Responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and directing all workshop activities to achieve qualitative and quantitative targets, particularly ensuring that vehicles are completed on time to a high quality to competitive prices whilst controlling workshop costs.
Responsible for promoting the workshop image and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all vehicle maintenance, repair, and pre-delivery inspection activities and ensure that all tasks are executed on time and at the highest quality level according to manufactures’ principles, processes, and procedures.
- Randomly inspect & road test at least one vehicle per day after quality control to ensure high levels of quality are
- Assist the parts department, wherever possible to promote parts sales for repairs and with reducing dead stock levels. Assist in achieving parts sales targets through the service
- Monitor workshop control to ensure optimum use of facilities. Monitor, track, analyze and provide regular feedback to management on the overall activities.
- Ensure that all necessary workshop tools, equipment, and manuals are available, well handled, and maintained at all times in line with Policies &
- Ensure all Job Cards are completed in line with Policies and Procedures and sufficient information is available for accurate costing, collecting of invoices, and warranty
- Authorize additional work required on Job Cards once customer approval is obtained.
- Liaise with Workshop Controller to ensure minimum non-productive time and to manage it most
- Ensure a high standard of workshop cleanliness is maintained at all
- Execute maintenance contracts in line with relevant terms and conditions.
- Track and monitor costs and expenses within the workshop to ensure they remain in line with
- Promote and maintain the workshop image, good customer relations, and high customer
- Liaise with Quality Controller to ensure all workshop activities conform with health and safety recommendations and
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the direct
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels of the department in line with budget and business
- Ensure subordinates have clear objectives and challenging
- Ensure subordinates receive appropriate guidance and Recommend training required by all subordinates regularly and specifically at the time of annual review.
- Maintain continuous two-way communications with the team to better understand their concerns and needs.
- Motivate and recognize top performers.
- Monitor workshop incentive program to ensure it is conducted fairly and in the best interests of the company and the productive staff.
