Trainer
The position will be based in the Tripoli Sub Delegation
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Purpose:
Trainer 1 delivers learning and development programs according to the objective set for the delegation. S/he is a junior level (developing) trainer:
- To carry out Learning/Training Needs Analysis (LNA) for individuals, units, teams, or delegations.
- Based on an LNA, to design, develop, implement and evaluate the necessary learning processes including training courses.
- To deliver institutional and non-institutional training as required.
- Advise individuals in their Continuing Professional Development (CDP) plans.
- Support management in CDP and work-based learning.
- To facilitate organizational learning through the centralization and sharing of learning which is taking place.
- Maintain an LnD (Learning and Development) global focal point on specific expertise.
- Contribute to global Learning and Development.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities: Functional Responsibilities:
Planning and Development:
- Contributes to the development of new courses and training modules.
- Runs or contributes to Learning/Training needs analysis.
- Runs or contributes to evaluating Learning/training events.
Creation of new fields of learning expertise:
- The focal point for a particular area of learning expertise where they have design and development responsibilities.
- Impacts the organisational-wide L&D for their particular expertise.
Course Facilitation:
- Conducts Institutional or non-institutional courses in the domain/region covered and elsewhere on request.
- Conducts/contributes to training output evaluations.
- Contributes to the preparation of candidates for various training programs.
- Contributes to the tutoring of “on the job learning activities” when needed.
- Elaborates or contributes to elaborating distance learning material.
Course Co-ordination:
- Plans the dates for courses.
- Sends (or supervise the sending) of relevant correspondence regarding the conduct of courses: (Invitation letters, approvals related to criteria, preparation messages, programs, messages inviting resource persons, and follow-up messages).
- Identifies and invites resource persons.
- Adapts and/or designs certain modules and exercises to most suitably fit the context and operational activities.
Supervision / Liaison:
Supervises training assistant (optional).
Relations:
- Internally, interact with HRM/Head of Support, and the regional learning and development staff.
- Externally, may interact with training suppliers.
Reporting:
- Produces courses’ completion reports.
- Contributes to reports of training network meetings.
- Submits Authorisation of Expenditure requests when required.
- Monitors budget spending.
Contribution to global LnD:
- Maintains the global LnD focus for a defined area of expertise.
- Contributes to the ongoing development of LnD policies and processes.
General Duties:
- Respects and observes the staff regulations of the delegation.
- The employee may be asked to perform duties and task not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when necessary.
- Carries out any other specific tasks in the field of training, according to identified and confirmed needs
General Duties and Code of Conduct:
- Is aware of the delegation’s objectives and activities.
- Handles general and individual information accurately and with confidentiality;
- Understand the three components of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
- Applies the security rules at all times.
- Respects and observes the staff regulations of the ICRC in Libya.
- Performs duties and tasks not covered in this job description and provides support to other departments when necessary.
Certifications / Education required:
- University degree, similar qualification, or equivalent experience in a learning-related field.
- Minimum two years of similar experience in training, development, and capacity building.
- Experience working for an NGO or international organization is an asset.
- Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Must be able to travel inside and outside Libya.
- Good communication skills.
- Good computer skills.
- Good analytical skills.
- Team leadership skills.
- Capacity to apply ICRC rules and procedures.
- The capacity of treating information confidentially.
- Interest in humanitarian activities (especially ICRC’s).
- Excellent organizational and methodical abilities, sense of initiative.
- Service-oriented with a strong sense of setting priorities and flexibility.
