The ICRC Delegation in Libya has a vacancy for:
Staff Health Admin Assistant
The position will be based in the Tripoli Sub Delegation
Main Responsibilities:
COVID-19 Emergency response and management (30%)
1. Support management of routine PCR testing required for travel to and from Libya, and other destinations
2. Manage and update relevant databases as needed
3. Manage all information in accordance with ICRC principals of confidentiality and professionalism
4. Liaise with other departments to facilitate testing related to travel, such as Air Operations, and administrative departments
5. Liaise with external laboratories to facilitate timely receipt of results
Preventative activities (20%)
1. Able to provide clear communication to staff on ICRC Staff Health policies and processes and able to field questions related to these
2. Will also be able to promote and demonstrate good practice in relation to infection prevention and control measures around COVID 19
3. Assist with health promotion and disease prevention activities as deemed relevant
Administrative and medical assistance/support (30%)
1. Keep accurate records
2. Maintain confidentiality
3. Assist with administrative tasks as needed
4. Help update referral lists of medical providers
5. Assist colleagues who may need help booking medical appointments locally, especially those who don’t speak Arabic
6. Confidentially assist Staff Health Officer with medical insurance claims processing
7. Carry out other health related tasks under the direction of the resident Staff Health Officer as per the ICRC Staff Health Strategy
8. Support Staff Health activities in other ICRC delegations within Libya (Benghazi, Misrata, and Sabah)
The employee may be asked to perform duties and task not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when necessary.
ICRC is a humanitarian organization, which works to protect and assist victims of armed conflicts. The position within the institution requires convey/carry a certain image of the ICRC. ICRC expects its employees to behave in an appropriate manner at all times and in all places. Official working hours: Sunday to Thursday – 08:30-17:30 (including one hour lunch break)
Required background, skills and experience:
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
• Qualification or experience in administration desirable
• Qualification in health, or health related field highly desirable
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in an administrative health function, experience working in clinical area or with NGO an advantage, with good references
• Very good knowledge of written and spoken Arabic, and English including knowledge of medical technical terminology
• Good knowledge of standard computer tools (MS Office)
• Skilled in the following competencies: Able to adapt quickly to a new working environment and learn new skills, working within multi-disciplinary teams, forward planning, able to assess situations and make rapid decisions, good communication skills and ability to network with key people/organizations
• Experience with managing databases and record keeping
• Experience communicating effectively within a multicultural environment
Personal attributes:
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive information
• Ability to work under pressure, or respond to requests at short notice
• Strong organizational skills in the daily work, able to introduce new ideas and ways of working
• Good administrative skills
• Ability to take initiative and work autonomously

• Very good interpersonal “soft skills”
• Happy to adhere to the ethos of the ICRC and the code of conduct for all staff
• Aptitude for applying and ensuring compliance with ICRC directives and procedures
• Flexibility in working hours available with some after hours calls
• Supports ICRC policy on gender and rights of women and marginalized groups
