Senior Instrument &Control Engineer

1-        GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF JOB

The job of the Senior Instrument and control Engineer is to identify, develop and maintain relevant activities associated with new projects and modifications of existing facilities in close coordination with other disciplines within the Engineering Department and others.

The Senior Instrument and control Engineer shall be a pro-active, innovative and solution directed person.

The position is located in the head office, but regular visits to the field production facilities are required as per work necessities.

2-        MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, development of specification, data sheets & drawings and installation of equipment instrumentation.
• that are used in design and configuration of automated systems,
• Proficient in PLCs programming and hardware of various systems including SIEMENS PCS7, S7 and WinCC software packages, to implement, upgrade and optimize the existing control system (DCS).
• Evaluate issues/problems and conduct root cause failure analysis investigations on failed equipment and identify equivalent better solutions components and lead the implementation of corrective actions,
• Prepare all required documents for new project approval process.
• Create, review of related projects scope of work and equipment specifications for new projects.
• Verify all related project documents.
• Familiar with HAZOP and risk assessment process.
• Ensure compliance with Company HSE procedures and international safety standards for machinery control systems, to timely closeout of all actions identified in the HSE plan.
• Check materials required, raise Purchase Requisition (PR), prepare delta Material Take-Off (MTO) to ensure adequate quantity of materials with right technical specifications are available during project execution and installation,
• Perform site inspections with QC team as required to collaborate with other disciplines to clarify other engineering disputes to ensure instrumentation items delivered are as per approved drawings,
• Attend to technical query by operations personnel and provide advice/solution according to best engineering practice to address issues which affect the operation.
• Produces budgets and plans for specific projects, studies or modifications and manages the time schedule & cost control process,
• Explore market and make recommendation for technologies that are safer, more reliable, and cost-effective,
• Liaise with vendor(s) on any technical clarification and perform Vendor Data Review,
• Support procurement on vendor selection and ensure the materials purchased meet required specifications.

3- Business Qualification:

BSc Degree level or equivalent in the appropriate discipline and minimum of 10 years’ work experience in instrument & control engineering in the oil & gas area.

4- General Skills & Requirements:

• Very Good command of English, good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Proficient to the codes and standards in the oil and gas industry i.e. API, BS, ISO, ASME, ANSI, IEC, ISA, IEEE, etc.
• A good general knowledge and understanding of engineering disciplines such as electrical, automation and process, is required.
• The ability to communicate with other engineering disciplines and external agencies at a detailed technical level.
• Presentational skills in order to effectively address formal technical gatherings of any group of peers or external bodies.
• To keep abreast of current technology and regulations in order to keep company specifications and procedures up to date.

5- EDP Skills:

• Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point
• Basis knowledge of data base
• The use of project management tools
