Position Title: Prevention & Community Outreach Assistant.
Field Site: Tripoli.
Position Reports to: WGSS Manager.
Date Needed: 01, January 2021
Essential Responsibilities:
- Support implementation and monitoring of GBV prevention activities through the women and girls’ safe space (WGSS) and other IMC related GBV activities, with a specific focus on engaging men and boys.
- Design and implement community awareness and outreach activities for GBV prevention and on other topics as instructed by the supervisor.
- Support referrals to case-management for survivors of GBV, the elderly, and people with specific needs.
- Support training on protection and GBV concepts for other staff, the community, and other
actors/institutions.
- Ensuring that activities are implemented in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Support WGSS/GBV related assessments in close coordination with other sectors (e.g. health).
- Ensure that GBV, Protection and Safe Guarding policies, guidelines, and standards are understood and met and ensure communication to the community on those standards.
- Promote GBV guiding principles throughout all GBV activities.
- Ensure recognized international best practices and IMC’s policies are applied in the work with beneficiaries.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans and reports in a timely manner for supervisor review and feedback.
- Prepare and submit financial and logistics documentation as required by IMC policies
Qualifications:
- Experience in community mobilization, social work, counseling, or psychosocial services, capacity-building, and leading focus group discussions.
- Good understanding of Protection principles must demonstrate survivor-centered, respectful attitudes and a strong belief in gender equality.
- Friendly, approachable, and team-oriented communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders Strong ability to organize work, coordinate multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work in a professional environment, work under pressure, and work within a multi-cultural team.
- Knowledge of GBV prevention and response and women’s empowerment preferable.
- Previous experience working in INGO or NGO preferable.
- Degree in social work, psychology, law or health-related field preferable.
- Ability to design and implement appropriate and effective messaging and activities for GBV prevention and community outreach.
- Ability to work under little supervision and to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Excellent oral and written English and Arabic skills (essential).
