Job Description:

We seek a talented Petroleum Reservoir Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team.

As a Petroleum Reservoir Engineer, you’ll be involved in nearly all stages of oil and gas field evaluation, development and production. You will aim to drill for hydrocarbons in the most efficient way, and to resolve any operating issues.

As a Petroleum Reservoir Engineer, you’ll manage the interface between the reservoir and the well through tasks such as perforations, sand control, artificial lift, downhole flow control and downhole monitoring equipment. They also select surface equipment that separates the produced fluids (oil, natural gas and water).

You may also be responsible for using new drilling tools and techniques and getting the most out of underperforming or older wells. Throughout the entire extraction process, one of your key aims will be reducing the effect of drilling on the environment.

Responsibilities:

• Determining and evaluating the best solutions to maintain and improve the productivity of wells.
• Designing and implementing quality assurance/control measures and performing post-job analysis.
• Conducting flow assurance analysis.

• Reservoir Characterization: Utilize advanced reservoir engineering techniques to characterise reservoirs and analyse geological and petrophysical data to understand reservoir behaviour and optimise production strategies.
• Reservoir Modelling: Develop and maintain numerical reservoir simulation models to forecast reservoir performance, assess recovery strategies, and optimise field development plans.
• Production Optimization: Implement reservoir management techniques to maximise hydrocarbon recovery, enhance well productivity, and minimise operating costs through techniques such as water flooding, gas injection, and artificial lift optimisation.
• Reservoir Surveillance: Monitor reservoir performance using surveillance tools and techniques such as pressure transient analysis, production logging, and fluid sampling to identify potential issues and recommend remedial actions.
• Well Testing and Analysis: Design and analyse well tests to evaluate reservoir properties, estimate reservoir reserves, and optimise well completion and production strategies.
• Field Development Planning: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop field development plans, including well placement, drilling and completion design, facilities engineering, and economic analysis.
• Reserves Estimation: Perform reserves estimation and classification according to industry standards (e.g., SEC, SPE, PRMS) and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with reporting guidelines.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate reservoir engineering analyses, recommendations, and findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (MSc or PhD) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in reservoir engineering roles within the oil and gas industry, with a proven track record of successful reservoir management and field development projects.
• Proficiency in reservoir engineering software such as Eclipse, CMG, Petrel, or similar reservoir simulation tools.
• Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of reservoir engineering principles, fluid flow dynamics, and well performance analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and interact confidently with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience working in diverse cultural and geographical environments is highly desirable.
• Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) are advantageous.

• Comfort using relevant tools (e.g. CAD) preferred.
