Job Description:

We seek a talented Petroleum Production Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team.

As a petroleum production engineer, you’ll be involved in nearly all stages of oil and gas field evaluation, development and production. Your aim will be to drill for hydrocarbons in the most efficient way, and to resolve any operating issues.

As a petroleum production engineer, you’ll manage the interface between the reservoir and the well through tasks such as perforations, sand control, artificial lift, downhole flow control and downhole monitoring equipment. They also select surface equipment that separates the produced fluids (oil, natural gas and water).

You may also be responsible for using new drilling tools and techniques and getting the most out of underperforming or older wells. Throughout the entire extraction process, one of your key aims will be reducing the effect of drilling on the environment.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise production processes and maximise oil and gas operations efficiency.
• Design and implement innovative solutions to enhance well performance, reservoir recovery, and production rates.
• Conduct comprehensive reservoir analysis and evaluation to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
• Advanced software and modelling tools are used to simulate reservoir behaviour and forecast production trends.
• Monitor production operations and performance metrics to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain production strategies and plans to achieve operational targets and objectives.
• Provide technical expertise and support to field operations personnel to troubleshoot and resolve production challenges.
• Participate in risk assessments and contingency planning to mitigate potential hazards and ensure continuity of operations.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation in production engineering practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in petroleum engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in petroleum production engineering roles, with a proven track record of success.
• Strong proficiency in reservoir engineering principles, production optimisation techniques, and reservoir simulation software.
• Extensive knowledge of oil and gas production operations, equipment, and facilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
• Willingness to travel and work in remote or challenging environments, as required.
