Purpose of the Consultancy:

UNICEF is planned to support strengthening of Nutrition program in the country through placement of nutrition coordinator to support and strengthen the Nutritional programming at Primary Health Care Institute.
On behalf of UNICEF and in support of the Government, the purpose of this post is to provide support and facilitate processes to ensure well-coordinated, Quality assured and effective Nutrition intervention at Primary Health Care settings.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

The main activities of this consultancy will be divided in :

1. Capacity building for IYCF Focal points at UNICEF Targeted Health facilities using the standardized ,WHO and UNICEF approved Integrated Young Child feeding practices training module.

2. Finalization of IYCF training package and Adaptation to country relevant context Coordinate with PHCI/Nutrition unit to finalize IYCF Training modules, and standard set of IYCF material to be disseminated at facilities nationwide.

3. Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date weekly information on the nutrition status of Pregnant and lactating women and under 5 children nationwide focusing on UNICEF supported geographical areas.

4. Analyze collected data and information on the Nutrition situation of PLW and children in the targeted areas and prepare progress reports using agreed upon indicators.

5. Review and identify final list of required supplies and equipment for the target areas, assuring accuracy and consistency with established rules, regulations and plans of action. Keep record of all Nutrition related reports and assessments for easy reference and prepare minutes/reports for follow up action by UNICEF and other stakeholders.

6. Support Facility level referral and any required support and intervention.

7. Provide support to the newly established government counterpart at Primary Health Care Institute (PHCI), through regular monthly progress reviews, need based meetings, as well as attending relevant Health and Nutrition sectors meetings and provide feedback for actions.

8. Undertake field visits to provide monitoring and supportive supervision, and report on critical issues, bottlenecks, and potential problems for timely action to achieve results and share information with partners/stakeholders to assess progress and provide technical support or refer to relevant officials for resolution.

9. Establishment and strengthening of nutrition-based programming in UNICEF Targeted health facilities with availability of a set of Nutritional tools.

10. Provide regular monthly plans, monitoring and finalize reports from UNICEF and PHCI Nutrition supported interventions at Detention centers to include the following:

  1. Capacity building of designated mobile team staff members on Nutrition interventions
  2. Monitoring program activities and assigning monthly visits
  3. Maintain availability of Nutrition supplies (Micronutrients and supplements)
  4. Support in case referral and required interventions

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Master’s Degree in a related health discipline such as, Nutrition, Public health, Medicine or other medical relate fields.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressively professional working experience in Child Health/Nutrition/Public Health.
  • Native Arabic Speaker with proficient knowledge of English language.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the nutrition and health programming.
  • Planning & coordination skills, proven ability to work with various stakeholders.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
