Organizational Context
Sheikh Al-Taher Al-Zawi Charitable Organization (STACO) is a non-governmental organization
dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities in Libya, particularly in conflict-affected
areas. We provide humanitarian assistance, education support, and livelihood
development, among other services. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual
to join our team as a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant on a volunteer basis to
assist in tracking and assessing the impact of our programs.
Position Summary
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant (Volunteer) will support the Programme Manager in
monitoring and evaluating the performance of ongoing programs and projects within
STACO’s portfolio. The role involves assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting to
ensure that programs meet their objectives and deliver positive impacts. This is an excellent
opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience in the humanitarian and
development sector.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Data Collection and Analysis:
• Assist in collecting data from field activities through surveys, interviews, focus
groups, and other methods.
• Support the Programme Manager in compiling and analyzing data to track project
progress and impact.
2. Monitoring:
• Participate in the development and updating of M&E plans, indicators, and
frameworks.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor the implementation of projects, ensuring they
align with M&E plans.
Reporting:
• Contribute to the preparation of M&E reports, including progress reports, outcome
assessments, and impact evaluations.
• Assist in creating visualizations of data (e.g., charts, graphs) to represent project
outcomes effectively.
4. Capacity Building:
• Provide support to program staff in understanding and implementing M&E processes.
• Help organize training sessions and workshops related to M&E practices.
5. Documentation:
• Assist in maintaining a database of project documents, reports, and relevant M&E
files.
• Ensure proper documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and success
stories.
6. Support in Assessments:
• Assist with needs assessments, baseline surveys, mid-term reviews, and final
evaluations of projects.
7. Other Duties:
• Perform any other duties as required by the Programme Manager related to
monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Education:
• Bachelor’s degree (or currently studying) in social sciences, international
development, statistics, or a related field.
2. Experience:
• Previous experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, or analysis is an
advantage but not required.
• Experience in volunteering or working with NGOs or community-based organizations
is beneficial.
3. Skills:
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis software
is an asset.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Language:
• Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge of English
