Main purpose:

The verbal interpretation, in person or remotely, during daily medical activities (consultations, interviews, meetings, etc.) and written translations, from the mission language to local language(s) or vice versa, to ensure accurate, respectful, fluent, and confidential communication between medical staff and the local population.

Responsibilities:

• Provide face to face interpreting, as well as during telephone and radio calls or other telecom devices, when necessary.
• Inform medical staff about any local customs, traditions, important cultural nuances that will help to understand better the context during a meeting, medical consultation, or interview with local people or detainees.
• Adapt communication to any circumstances, using appropriate language registry as well as diplomatic and courtesy manners.
• Translate MSF internal/external documents into the local language as requested.
• Look after all equipment provided, i.e. dictionaries or other books that belong to MSF.
• Ensure confidentiality and medical secrecy of all translations are maintained.
• Participate in any other related activities as requested by the line manager.

WORK LOCATION: Tripoli mainly and potentially other areas, the candidate have to be based in Tripoli.

WORKING HOURS:

Part-time job / 24 hours per week / Fixed-term contract
