MEDICAL DOCTOR – BANI WALID

•            Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, and to ensure that they have understood

•            Ensuring referrals and follow-up the evolution of the referrals in the Bani Walid Hospital/clinic, through regular visits, making sure that appropriate treatments are given to the patients, discussing  whether patients should be discharged or  transferred to other departments, etc., in good collaboration with medical and administrative teams in other facilities

•            Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility.

•            Take care of the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards

•            Ensuring qualitative statistic activities, collection and analysis of epidemiological data in order to check its validity. Inform the medical Activity Manager about any problem, complication of the patient’s illness or medical error.

•            Involve in training of the medical/paramedical staff in order to optimize the quality of care

•            Ensuring all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times, reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control

•            Monitor the proper functioning of the equipment and the material on site.

•            Ensuring professional confidentiality is always respected

·       Performing medical consultations in the Communities, mobile clinics and OPD whenever necessary or advised by the Medical Activity Manager promoting quality patient care and prioritizing patients in accordance with MSF protocols. Follow rational drug prescription and distributions.

·       Applies medical knowledge & skills and follows MSF protocols and Guidelines to the diagnosis, prevention and management of diseases to patients coming to MSF’s health facilites, mobile clinics, including an holistic management for VoT (Victims of Torture) patients and ensuring that the Medical Legal Certificate is completed.

·       Ensuring that a timely decision is taken for referral of a patient to appropriate structure/speciality and informing the Medical Activity Manager to finalize a necessary course of action.

·       Conducts a follow-up of the patients in OPD and mobile clinics and the ones referred to other structures/facilities and ensures a complete understanding from the patient, using a translator when necessary to ensure a good communication, keeping informed the Medical Activity Manager about the situation of the patients.

·       Keep the health cards, files and register up to date by noting the details of examination, diagnosis and treatment, and ensure the application of prescriptions

• Know and follow MSF guidelines and procedures in case of accidental exposure to blood

·       Ensures a good communication and sharing of the information about patients and context with MAM, NAM, Medical Referent, Mental Health team and Protection team in order to have an holistic management of the patients.

·       Take part of  exploratory mission/visit as requested by the Medical Activity Manager, Medical Referent or Project Coordinator

·       Actively participate in meetings and/or trainings when relevant, or at the request of the line manager/s
