Position Title: Medical Doctor
Location: Benghazi
Reporting: Country Medical Coordinator
Job Summary:
Medical Doctor of IMC support team to emergency response in the east region will act as health services provider and as a mentor who will support and assist the other medical team members through direct mentoring and capacity building in order to improve overall adherence to standard practices and recognized MOH and WHO guidelines, medical doctor will act also as a focal point and supervisor to other IMC staff in the emergency response.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To Mentorship and build the clinical capacity of the PHCC health staff according to the latest standard medical practices.
- To provide medical consultations and appropriate treatment to beneficiaries of targeted PHC facilities 5 days per week from 9:00 to 17:00, when required, especially when gaps arise, capable of providing emergency health consultation when needed. The medical doctor should be aware of the national guidance and protocols regarding health services.
- To supervise other IMC team members at the PHCC, and act as a focal point at the health facility to link between the medical team and medical coordinator.
- To help other IMC team members to provide short training sessions and on-job trainings to the health care providers at the health facility.
- To help the MOH staff at the primary health care center to follow national MOH and WHO standards, including rules of infection control and rational use of medications and proper ways of disposal of sharps and medical wastes.
- Provide short capacity building lectures and on-job training on topics related to primary health care to MOH staff at the PHC.
- Obtain appropriate information and maintain sufficient patient records as needed.
- Provide patients with correct information regarding his/her conditions.
- Ensures patient confidentiality.
- Work and plan with other program staff on program activities needed to be implemented on the ground.
- Follow-up patients as appropriate, help
- Perform regular health promotion and health education sessions for beneficiaries as needed.
- Inform his/her supervisor of any needs in the health facility for prompt action.
- Provide a regular written and verbal update and reports regarding activities conducted including weekly, monthly reports and daily data collection report on morbidity and services provided.
- Submit monthly drug ways of utilization and consumption report to supervisor when needed.
- Preparation and submitting of good issue order (GIO) to transfer medications from the warehouse to the health facility.
- Follow security protocols including provide travel updates on a daily basis to security focal point and supervisor.
- Attend and participate in regular country and program meetings as scheduled.
- Any other responsibilities assigned by his/her supervisor for the fulfillment of program objectives.
- The Medical doctor should ensure good relations and open communication channel with the national stakeholders.
- the medical doctor should be flexible to accommodate any type of health services interventions either fixed type and mobile health services approach.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered Medical doctor.
- At least 4 years’ clinical experience, preferably 1 year at ER and 2 years at least as GP.
- Able to provide treatment and assistance to all individuals needing his/her care.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work in resource limited settings, especially peripheral areas in Libya.
- Able to provide feedback/reports regarding work -related activities.
- Able to speak, read and write in Arabic and English.
- Experience in providing clinical tutorial, medical lectures and capacity building sessions is very desirable.

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors.
