Instrument Engineer

An established company in the Oil & Gas services sector is seeking a skilled Instrument Engineer to join our maintenance team. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of instrument systems and tools used in oilfield operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in instrumentation and a proven track record in maintaining and troubleshooting equipment in the oil and gas industry.

This position will be reporting to the Instrument Lab Manager and is open for local candidates only.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tool Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance of tools and equipment, following the manufacturer’s recommended procedures and guidelines.
  • Repair and ensure the fitness of all assigned tools and equipment for service by field crews.
  • Address emergency repairs of failed equipment at the wellsite when required.
  • Participate in the modification and upgrade of technical equipment as needed.
  • Maintain close communication with the Field Service Manager (FSM) and field personnel to optimize maintenance work efficiency.

• Failure Analysis and Reporting:
  • Participate in the analysis of all CMS lost time failures related to electronic equipment.
  • Record all tasks performed accurately and promptly on History Cards.
  • Make recommendations to the Supervisor regarding spare parts, test equipment, and tools required for efficient maintenance and operation.
  • Keep knowledge and skills up to date by acquiring newer skills as necessary.
  • Initiate and actively participate in problem-solving procedures.
  • Make recommendations to improve Lab test procedures and solve equipment failure problems.
• Equipment Inspection and Safety:
  • Participate in the inspection of the E-lab as per the location’s schedule.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and tidy working environment.
  • Report all hazards identified in the workplace promptly.
  • Report all accidents as soon as possible after occurrence.
  • Actively participate in safety reporting and follow-up actions.
• Team Development:
  • Contribute to the development of junior maintenance engineers by providing coaching and upgrading their maintenance proficiency.
  • Share knowledge and expertise to enhance the technical competence of the team.

• QHSE Compliance:
  • Enforce adherence to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure all activities are carried out in a secure manner.
• Reporting:
  • Report any critical equipment failures or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate authorities.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in instrument maintenance, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• Proven experience in maintenance operations, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• Must be capable of performing a variety of repairs and modifications to all electronic parts of the tools.
• Must have excellent troubleshooting skills to identify faulty parts and components.
• Knowledge of the tools and systems the business unit provides.
• Knowledge of the business unit’s safety policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Knowledge of the general application and operating concepts of the electronic tools, surface instrumentation, and log measurement.
