• Job Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan & implement new systems and upgrades to the AIX/UNIX environment.
• Actively and pre-emptively determine possible failure faults and causes.
• Provide Team Leaders/managers with input in activities/direction when required
• Manage and resolve problems identified by users or monitoring software
• Work with change and problem management tools
• Provide technical assistance to the other members of the System Administration team and Share knowledge/experiences
• Hardware fault detection and correction – deal with vendor to find best solution.

Mandatory Skills

• AIX System Administration
• Disk Management functions (logical volumes, mirroring disks)
• TCIP/IP experience and knowledge
• Strong skill in IBM P hardware products (HMC, PowerVM, PowerHA, VIO)
• Strong problem determination skills
• Able to perform disk management functions such as extending logical volumes, creating file systems, mirroring disks
• Very comfortable with problem and change management practices
• System firmware related skills
• Good Documentation Skills/ Technical Documentation
• Flexible working hrs e.g. Weekend work, after hours
• Performance Monitoring and trouble-shooting.
• Sound Scripting skills.
• Able to perform Operating System and Production Upgrades.
• Strong understanding and awareness of AIX system security.
• Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
• High availability solutions and load balancing.
• IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS server, IHS web server and Apache based.
• Some DB2/Oracle DBA exposure.
• Willing to learn new tools and to share the experience.
• Experience in Windows server platform is a plus.
• IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, manage backup and archive data across disk arrays, tape library optical storage and move data as it ages to lower performance storage.
• Enterprise-wide TSM environment including daily TSM/UNIX administration, problem determination and resolution, and support of a highly virtualized environment.
• Responsible for designing and implementing disaster recovery processes and business continuity procedures
• Plan, engineer and implement new technologies to maintain and improve the existing backup infrastructure
