Purpose :

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensure the highest standards in data protection and confidentiality in accordance with the MSF and project guidelines on data protection.
· Ensure good working relationships with local authorities, other NGOs, local communities, etc. to facilitate the contact of MSF teams with the population and improve coordination of their activities with third parties. · Update and file field contacts and correspondence related to humanitarian affairs in order to ensure information sources accuracy and its availability on regular basis. · Organize discussions, training, briefings, etc. on humanitarian affairs, human rights and humanitarian law issues, as well as current and future advocacy plans, to raise awareness among MSF staff on these topics. · In close collaboration with the Humanitarian Affairs Officer, the Project Coordinator, participate in the organization of activities to raise awareness of humanitarian principles, medical mission and other advocacy messages for local actors. |
Specific ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Accompany the medical team on its activities in detention centres, the community and health facilities several times per week.
- Identify and screen protection cases for referrals to the relevant agencies. Maintain and update the protection database.
- Document the situation of human rights for migrants by taking testimonies from patients and collecting data in coordination with the medical team.
- Contribute to the identification of services available to refugees and migrants in the community, and maintain good relationships with service providers and migrant communities.
- Translate documents and assist with interpretation as needed by the Humanitarian Affairs department.
- Liaise with the medical department for data collection, and update the data monitoring tool weekly.
Minimum Requirements and Competencies
Requirements | |
Education | Diploma in law, humanitarian affairs, political science, social sciences, journalism or other similar university degree |
Experience | A minimum of two years of experience in research, analysis and advocacy highly desirable.
Experience in protection case management desirable. Experience within MSF, other NGOs or civil society organisations required. Experience working with migrants highly desirable. |
Languages | Arabic and English essential
French highly desirable Tigrinya, Somali, or other languages spoken by the migrant community desirable |
Knowledge | Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet) essential
Good writing / research / analytical skill highly desirable
