Economic Security Agronomist/Generalist
The position will be based in the Misurata Sub Delegation
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Purpose:
The Economic Security Agronomist/Generalist 1, under the supervision of the direct supervisor, performs required agro/livestock and all EcoSec linked assessments, participates in all operations of the department as well as of the Sub-delegation. S/He supports the supervisor in understanding the national and regional agro/livestock sector in order to better the implementation modality within the livelihood projects.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities: Functional responsibilities:
Working under supervision and with support from Economic Security Delegate/Generalist 3, has most of the following responsibilities.
- Under the supervision of the line manager, performs required agro/livestock and all other assessment
- Supports the supervisor in planning of all agro/livestock and other activities
- Contributes/participates in the implementation and follow-up on an EcoSec project
- Maintains contacts at all required levels
- Makes written reporting on the activities and contributes to all institutional reporting
- Treats all information with the necessary confidentiality
- Collects field and other data using EcoSec data collection tools and devices
- Contributes to the EcoSec database entry (the survey analysis tool, Device Magic, etc.)
- Undertakes all necessary steps within preparation of field trips, meetings and other activities required by the organisation and the circumstances
- Ensures close collaboration with all the departments assuring all ICRC rules and procedures are fully respected while performing the activities
- Strictly follows all the security procedures
The tasks and responsibilities defined above may not be exhaustive and can be elaborated depending on organizational needs.
Relationships:
- Internally, interacts mainly with colleagues at the local level.
- Externally, maintains and develops a network of local/district-level contacts (members of the population, community leaders, authorities, NGOs, etc.) upon request from their direct supervisor.
Scope & Impact:
- Geographical remit: Misurata Office Area of Responsibility (AoR).

- Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct
- Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
- Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times
- Always represents the ICRC in a professional manner
- Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
- Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
- May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary
- Is aware of the delegation objectives and activities.
- Always applies the security rules .
Certifications / Education required:
Education and professional qualifications
- Good general knowledge in agronomy science (bachelor’s degree as a minimum or 2 years of experience in the agriculture sector)
- Good command (spoken and written) of English and Arabic languages.
- Good computer skills especially in Excel
- Capacity to adhere to and to implement procedures
- Rigor, method and analytical skills
- Good knowledge of Libyan gardening and livestock system (small and medium size)
- Experience in design and animation of training will be consider as an asset (especially if in agro/livestock sector)
- Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment.
