POSITION TITLE:                              Mechanic – Technician

REPORTS TO:                                    Workshop Supervisor

POSITION CONCEPT:

Responsible for carrying out mechanical repairs and associated activities on vehicles as detailed on Job Cards on a timely basis to a high-quality standard.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform accurate and timely maintenance and repairs according to the standards stated in the manufacturers’ manuals and checklists and normal working practices.
2. Must be clocked onto a Job Card throughout the working hours.

1. As soon as work required has been completed must report to the Workshop Controller to clock off the existing Job Card and request a new Job Card (except at end of the Workshop).
2. Try to complete all tasks within the time required and report to the Workshop Supervisor if time is likely to overrun.
3. Ensure that safety regulations are well maintained. Report any unsafe situation in writing to supervision immediately upon detection.
4. Keep all tools and equipment of the workshop in good condition and ensure they are well maintained at all times. Report any problems to supervision. Return them to the appropriate location when the relevant task is

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

1. Maintain appropriate staffing levels of the department in line with budget and business
2. Ensure subordinates have clear objectives and challenging
3. Ensure subordinates receive appropriate guidance and training. Recommend training required by all subordinates regularly and specifically at the time of annual
4. Maintain continuous two-way communications with the team to better understand their concerns and needs.
5. Motivate and recognize top performers.
