POSITION DESCRIPTION

Amideast, a leading international non-profit organization, is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Libya Program Officer. This position is dedicated to supporting the implementation of donor funded programs in Libya, including but not limited to the Rise Initiative, Skills for Tomorrow, the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, and the Fulbright Foreign Student Program. The successful candidate will provide administrative and logistical support to ensure the smooth operation and coordination of these programs. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with U.S. government-funded initiatives are essential for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Program Support:
    • Assist the General Manager in the coordination and implementation of donor-funded programs, including the Rise Initiative, Skills for Tomorrow, the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, and Space Camp.
    • Support program logistics, including participant recruitment, selection, and orientation.
    • Assist with the organization of program events, workshops, and seminars, including venue selection, logistical arrangements, and participant communication.
    • Ensure compliance with program guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  2. Administrative and Logistical Support:
    • Provide administrative support to the General Manager, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and maintaining project files.
    • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of program materials, such as training manuals, reports, and presentations.
    • Handle travel arrangements, visa processing, and accommodation bookings for staff and program participants as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records of program activities, including participant databases, attendance records, and evaluations.
  1. Financial Support:
    • Assist in the preparation and tracking of program budgets, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
    • Monitor program expenses and maintain accurate financial records.
  2. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of program activities, including data collection.
    • Assist in the preparation of program reports, including progress reports, impact assessments, and financial reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., international development, education, social sciences).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling data and documentation.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in program support or administration, preferably in the context of U.S. government-funded initiatives.

Up to 10% business travel may be needed to support program implementation as needed.
